Vedanta Lanjigarh & Kalahandi District Athletics Association organise intra-district archery competition

  • 19 top participants will now represent Kalahandi in the Odisha State Open Archery Championship 2022

Lanjigarh, Kalahandi District; 23rd September 2022: Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh, India’s premier producer of metallurgical grade alumina, organised Kalahandi’s first-ever intra-district archery competition at Lanjigarh, in collaboration with the Kalahandi District Athletics Association. The event, which doubled as a selection trial for the upcoming State Open Archery Championship 2022 in October, witnessed close competition from 46 students from 5 schools in the district.

The selection process was undertaken by a committee of senior sports officials from the Kalahandi District Athletics Association (KDAA), including Shri. Jagamohan Pattanaik (General Secretary, KDAA), Shri. Sunil Kumar Behera (Joint Secretary, KDAA), Shri. Sambu Prasad Rout (Council member, KDAA), Shri. Kali Prasad Pattanaik (Joint Secretary, KDAA), Shri. Md. Abdul Kadar (Football Secretary KDAA) and Shri. Subhasis Nayak (District Sports Officer). The qualifying 19 top participants from today’s competition will now represent Kalahandi district at the state-level competition. They were also awarded with a certificate and medals by the selection committee and organisers Vedanta Lanjigarh.

Lauding the efforts of the participants, Mr. GG Pal, Dy. I also express my best wishes to the qualifying participants from today’s competition, who are now going on to participate in the state competition.

At present, the company supports the training of over 40 students in archery and 60 students in karate at the SSD High School, Lanjigarh.
