Vedanta launches Mobile Health Unit to bolster healthcare services in Sundargarh

  • Organizes a health camp at Jharpalam village for residents

Jharsuguda, Odisha; October 20th, 2022: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has commenced Mobile Health Unit (MHU) services in Sundargarh district, for making doorstep healthcare services accessible in remote villages. The company also organised a health camp at Jharpalam village, wherein residents of the village and nearby areas availed of the primary healthcare services provided by the MHU’s medical professionals. The company’s employees also volunteered for successful execution of the health camp.

Through its MHU, Vedanta Aluminium will help people from multiple villages of Sundargarh access quality healthcare services, which include preliminary medical consultation, blood tests, blood pressure monitoring, basic check-ups and essential medicines for common ailments. All of which were provided free of cost to the participants in the Jharpalam health camp and will continue to be provided to the residents through the MHU service. The medical team of the MHU comprises of a doctor, nurse, pharmacist and coordinator. In all, the initiative is expected to benefit over 4,500 people through easy access to essential healthcare consultations and medicines.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr V. Mr. Prasanna Gidali, a local resident who attended the camp, said, “Health camps like these help us immensely by providing affordable healthcare facilities close to our home. The doctors gave us valuable information and advice and created awareness on various facets of health amongst our community. I thank Vedanta for such initiatives, which I believe will help our villages develop much faster.”
