Vedanta Jharsuguda hosts sports enthusiasts ahead of Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2023

Jharsuguda, Odisha; January 10th, 2023: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, partnered with the Jharsuguda District Administration to host sports enthusiasts over friendly tournaments ahead of Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2023, which is being held in Odisha. With sporting fervour abuzz in the region, a two-day cricket tournament was organised by the Jharsuguda District Administration at Vedanta Meadows cricket ground on popular demand.

The tournament was inaugurated by Shri Rahul Jain, Superintendent of Police (Jharsuguda), Smt. Alomani Sethi, Project Director – Resettlement & Rehabilitation (R&R), Shri Jeeban Mohanty, President – Odisha Hockey Association, Shri Sushil Kumar Mishra, District Sports Officer, and Inspector In-Charges of Kolabira and Badmal blocks.

The tournament saw three 12-over matches being played amongst 4 participating teams – Administration 11 (District Administration), Police Ekadas (Police Administration), Media 11 (Media Houses of Jharsuguda), and ‘Corporate 11’ (employees from Vedanta Jharsuguda, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Odisha Power Generation Corporation, and TRL Krosaki Refractories Limited). The final match was played between Corporate 11 and Police Ekadas, with Police Ekadas emerging victorious.
