Vedanta Aluminium’s Jal Sewa Shibir a big hit with Bhubaneshwar citizens

Bhubaneswar; 7th June, 2022: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, launched Jal Sewa Shibirs in 15 strategic locations of Bhubaneswar last month in view of the scorching heatwaves. These have been a big hit with the local citizens. Through these outlets, cold drinking water, lemonade and buttermilk are being provided to about 10,000 citizens every day free of cost, in collaboration with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. This initiative is being carried out by Auto Mahasangh and NGO Disha, led by the all-women startup Biogram.

Citizens who have benefited from these camps in times of need are full of praise for this community welfare initiative of Vedanta Aluminium. Bhola Mohanty, who came to the AIIMS Hospital area Jal Shibir to drink buttermilk said that the quality of facilities being provided in Vedanta Aluminium’s camp was excellent. Traveler Suyash Mohapatra, who benefited from the camp operated in the master canteen area, said that during summer season it is necessary for people to keep themselves hydrated. Given the intensity of heatwaves in Bhubaneswar, he commended Vedanta Aluminium for offering buttermilk and lemonade as well to the people. Chandan Kar, a student who visited the camp at KIITS Square area, said that many organizations had voluntarily started Jal Sewa Shibir in the vicinity to provide drinking water, but closed them very soon. On the other hand, Vedanta Aluminium’s camps have been running for a month now and offer multiple beverages for the public to quench their thirst.

Appreciating the camps of Vedanta Aluminium, Ms. Sulochana Das, Mayor of Bhubaneswar, said that this is a very important initiative, which will help needy people in this scorching heat. Arrangements have also been made for animals and birds.
