Vedanta Aluminium Observes National Deworming Day

Jharsuguda, Odisha; February 12, 2025: On the occasion of National Deworming Day, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, demonstrated its commitment to ensuring community health by organizing an extensive deworming drive in collaboration with the District Health Department. Held at the Ghanshyam Hemlata Vidya Mandir School in Jharsuguda, the initiative included administering deworming tablets and suspension medicine to more than 1,300 students, advancing the national mission of eradicating parasitic infections and improving child nutrition.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Brajabandhu Bhoi, Additional District Magistrate, Revenue, as the Chief Guest; Dr. Radharaman Bhirtia, Assistant District Medical & Public Health Officer, Jharsuguda; Mr. Parbati Behera, Assistant District Medical Officer; Dr. Jayanarayan Pujhari, Doctor, Mobile Health Unit; and Mrs. Sanjukta Dash, Principal, Ghanshyam Hemlata Vidya Mandir School, Jharsuguda, in addition to senior officials from Vedanta Jharsuguda. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of deworming in enhancing children’s immunity, cognitive development, and overall well-being.
As part of the initiative, the students were provided with nutritious refreshments before receiving their deworming tablets to ensure proper intake and effective mitigation. An interactive Q&A session was also conducted, where students were invited to engage with health experts to better understand the benefits of deworming and how it contributes to their overall health. The event concluded with a pledge to maintain continued awareness and ensure sustained health benefits through regular screening follow-ups.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Brajabandhu Bhoi, Additional District Magistrate, Revenue said, “A healthy childhood paves the way for a brighter future, and deworming is a key step in ensuring the overall well-being of children, thereby boosting their holistic development. By protecting them from infections that can impact their growth and education, this initiative will contribute significantly to their progress. I appreciate Vedanta Aluminium’s collaboration with the District Health Department in making this possible.”
