Vedanta Aluminium felicitates outstanding academic performers under Project Vidyagraha digital learning initiative
17th June 2025- The initiative has helped Jharsuguda rank 3rd among Odisha’s districts in the AHSC exams this year
Jharsuguda, Odisha, June 14th, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has helped Jharsuguda achieve a remarkable milestone in the overall academic performance of its students this year. The district has ranked 3rd among the 30 districts of Odisha in terms of the highest pass percentage (97.87%) in the Annual High School Certificate exams, with 33 students securing the A1 grade. Of these, 26 students are enrolled in Project Vidyagraha, Vedanta Aluminium’s unique digital learning initiative that has transformed community access to quality education.
In remote areas, the options for gaining a quality education can be very limited, often due to both geographical and infrastructural limitations. In response, Vedanta Aluminium developed the Vidyagraha platform, which provides students access to a library of recorded lectures covering a broad variety of subjects. It augments the students’ classroom-based learning with additional resources that help them revise lessons and absorb information in an engaging way.
The felicitation event was graced by Shri. Tankadhar Tripathy, Hon’ble MLA, Jharsuguda and Radhakanta Gartia, District Education Officer, Jharsuguda, who commended Vedanta’s efforts to bring a transformational learning experience to students in the district. The company also recognised headmasters and teachers who were instrumental in their students’ performance.
Speaking about the impact of the initiative, Sunil Gupta, COO, Vedanta Aluminium said, “At Vedanta, we believe that quality education is a fundamental stepping stone to the long-term development of our communities. Project Vidyagraha aims to contribute to the academic progress of the students by facilitating innovative learning and development avenues. We are now exploring more ways to extend our support to outstanding students on their continued academic journey.”
Lauding Vedanta Aluminium’s efforts, Shri. Tankadhar Tripathy, Hon’ble MLA, Jharsuguda, said, “Vedanta Aluminium has been a committed partner in the growth and development of Jharsuguda. Their contribution to the district’s stellar performance in the AHSC exams through the Vidyagraha initiative has been noteworthy. Such initiatives significantly enhance the range of learning opportunities available to students, supporting their all-round development.”
In response to the enthusiastic response from community members, the company launched the third phase of Project Vidyagraha last year, further expanding the scope of the project to additional schools in the district. At present, 106 schools are included in the project, with more than 11,000 students benefitting from the initiative which has been undertaken in partnership with the District Education Office.
