Vedanta Aluminium Marks World Blood Donor Day with Blood Donation Drives Across Odisha
17th June 2025- More than 800 units of blood were donated through the blood donation drives
Bhubaneswar, 16th June 2025: On World Blood Donor Day, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, reaffirmed its commitment to community health and welfare by organizing blood donation drives across its operations in Odisha, in collaboration with government health agencies and local stakeholders. In a resolute effort to address the critical blood supply needs of local healthcare systems, the company conducted multiple blood donation camps at Jharsuguda, Lanjigarh, and Bhawanipatna, collectively mobilizing more than 800 units of blood donated by its employees, business partners, and local residents.
At Vedanta’s Jharsuguda operations, one of the largest integrated aluminium plants globally, a mega blood donation camp held within the plant premises resulted in the collection of 680 units of blood, a record number for the site. The event also witnessed the inauguration of the revamped Satellite Hospital in Jharsuguda, marking another important milestone in Vedanta’s continued efforts to strengthen local healthcare infrastructure.
In Lanjigarh, where Vedanta operates its alumina refinery, a voluntary blood donation drive led by the company helped collect 130 units of blood for the local government hospital, significantly easing the demand for reliable blood procurement sources in the region.
Meanwhile, near its Sijimali mines, Vedanta Aluminium partnered with the Odisha State Blood Transfusion Council and local youth clubs to organize a camp at the District Headquarter Hospital in Bhawanipatna. The hospital, which often grapples with acute blood shortages, received 50 units of blood through this collaborative effort, demonstrating the impact of community engagement in healthcare delivery.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium said, “At Vedanta Aluminium, we believe that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right. Through sustained initiatives like blood donation camps and medical outreach, we are supporting the well-being of the communities around us. These efforts are driven by our deep-rooted philosophy of ‘Transforming for Good’, where we work in partnership with local authorities and citizens to build a healthier, more resilient society.”
Vedanta Aluminium has been consistently working to support local blood banks and strengthen public healthcare services through a range of initiatives, including mobile health units, health awareness programs, sanitation drives, and partnerships with government health departments. The company’s healthcare outreach touches over 6 lakh people annually, contributing to improved health outcomes across its areas of operation.
