National Youth Day: Vedanta Aluminium Empowers Youth with Industrial Experience as Part of PM’s Internship Scheme

New Delhi, 17th January 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, celebrated National Youth Day by reaffirming its commitment to empowering the youth of India. The company has undertaken multi-pronged initiatives in this regard, including extending its support to government initiatives such as the Government of India’s Prime Minister’s (PM) Internship Scheme and undertaking social impact projects designed to provide rural youths with more avenues for progress.

Through the PM Internship Scheme, Vedanta Aluminium is providing students with the opportunity to gain crucial hands-on industry experience across its mega industrial operations. At present, 18 interns have been inducted into the company’s operations in Jharsuguda, Odisha, home to the world’s largest aluminium plant. In addition, 4 interns have been onboarded at Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer based in Korba, Chhattisgarh.

As India’s largest aluminium producer, both plants are home to cutting-edge technologies and industry-best practices, giving the interns an invaluable glimpse into the world of modern manufacturing. The interns are currently engaged in impactful projects across key business areas like operations, sustainability, and digital innovation, enhancing their practical skills and preparing them for future leadership roles.

Sharing her experience, Sonali Dash, a PM Internship Scheme participant, said, “The internship at Vedanta Aluminium has been an enriching journey. It gave me the opportunity to work on sustainability-focused projects, and gain insights into pressing needs of the industry, which will help me in building a strong foundation for my career.”

Another intern, Ujjal Patra, echoed her views: “Working at Vedanta Aluminium has been a great learning experience. Being involved in live industrial projects allowed me to bridge the gap between theory and practice while also enhancing my technical and problem-solving skills.”
