Vedanta Aluminium Supports Inter-State U-17 Girls 5-A Side Hockey League in Jharsuguda, Odisha
21st April 2025Jharsuguda, Odisha; 21st April 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, in association with the District Hockey Association, Jharsuguda, organised the Inter-State 5-A Side Girls U-17 Hockey League from 18th to 20th April 2025. The three-day tournament, held at the Jharsuguda Hockey Grounds, saw enthusiastic participation from young hockey talent representing teams from across Odisha, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
The tournament concluded on a high note with Sundargarh Hostel claiming the championship title, displaying extraordinary skill and teamwork throughout the league. SAI Sundargarh secured the runner-up position, putting up a valiant fight in the finals.

Mr. Tankadhar Tripathy, Hon’ble MLA of Jharsuguda, who graced the closing ceremony, said, “Jharsuguda is fast emerging as a hub of sporting talent, and tournaments like these provide an excellent platform for our youth to shine. I appreciate Vedanta Aluminium and the District Hockey Association for promoting sports at the grassroots and encouraging young girls to pursue their dreams fearlessly.”
The event concluded with a vibrant award ceremony to felicitate the winning teams, standout performers, and the collective efforts of coaches and organisers, in the presence of local dignitaries and community members.
