5th February 2026
- Engaging over 2,000 people, the company marked road safety awareness month with multi-format campaigns across Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh
Bhubaneswar, 3rd February 2026: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, marked the 37th National Road Safety Month 2026 with coordinated, high-impact road safety initiatives across its operations in Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh, engaging over 2,000 employees, business partners, and the local community, to promote safer mobility and responsible road behaviour across the communities it serves.
Partnering with local authorities and community stakeholders, the company rolled out high visibility campaigns promoting responsible driving behaviour, road discipline and life safety. Under the theme “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha”, multiple public engagement activities, such as road safety quizzes, slogan competitions, a cyclothon, a road safety tank competition and awareness drives, were conducted, strengthening safety awareness across key community touchpoints.
As part of the awareness drive, Vedanta Aluminium led multiple initiatives to reinforce the importance of road safety:
- In Jharsuguda, the campaign included a high-impact road safety awareness drive in partnership with the Jharsuguda RTO, engaging nearly 1,000 people. A major highlight was the nukkad natak, which effectively conveyed the consequences of unsafe driving while reinforcing helmet usage and seatbelt compliance. The campaign further encouraged positive public participation through the distribution of road safety badges.
- In Lanjigarh, the programme extended deep into the community through a road rally featuring strong safety messaging, a school outreach programme reaching over 1,000 students across five schools, and a bike rally with 100 participants. Nukkad nataks were also organised, spotlighting the seriousness of traffic violations, while driver welfare initiatives included an eye checkup camp for 70 drivers and the distribution and installation of bicycle blinker lights to enhance nighttime visibility for riders, further reinforcing the message of “Life Safety” for all road users.
Commending the initiative, Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Road safety demands awareness, discipline and a shared commitment from organisations and communities alike. Our efforts were directed at deepening awareness and empowering employees, partners and communities to embrace safe road practices as a daily discipline, helping create meaningful behavioural change.”
Acknowledging the company’s efforts, Pranaya Kumar Mishra, Regional Transport Officer, Jharsuguda, stated, “Vedanta Aluminium’s on-ground engagement has contributed significantly to improving road safety awareness in Jharsuguda. Such collaborations help reinforce responsible driving habits, and we look forward to expanding this collaboration further.”
Malesh Naik, a heavy vehicle driver from Lanjigarh, said, “As drivers, clear vision is our biggest responsibility, and the free eye checkup gave me greater confidence in my own safety as well as the safety of others on the road. I drive long hauls, and this reminded me how important regular health checks are for staying safe behind the wheel.”
Through these concerted efforts, Vedanta Aluminium continues to champion a culture of safety, advancing its Zero Harm commitment and contributing to safer roads and informed communities across its operational regions.
