4th September 2025

Bhubaneswar; 4th September 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has successfully completed its mega plantation drive under the “Mo Gachha, Mo Parivar” (My Family, My Tree) campaign at its Lanjigarh operations in Odisha. This large-scale initiative reflects Vedanta’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community wellbeing, having planted more than one lakh saplings in 80 villages across Rayagada and Kalahandi districts. The campaign was made possible through the active participation of 294 stakeholders, including local panchayat representatives, government officials, community leaders, and volunteers. Together, they reached more than 4,000 households and engaged around 20,000 community members, fostering a deep sense of collective ownership and responsibility towards environmental stewardship.

In addition to enhancing the region’s green cover, the drive is expected to curb nearly 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually, marking a significant step towards climate action and sustainable development. By mobilizing communities, Vedanta Aluminium is not only contributing to biodiversity and ecological restoration but also promoting environmental education, health, and resilience. The campaign featured awareness sessions, sapling distribution, and on-ground support for planting and care, ensuring impact and engagement well beyond the plantation drive itself.

Commenting on this landmark completion, Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility and a cornerstone of long-term progress. Our mega plantation drive under the ‘Mo Gachha, Mo Parivar’ campaign is a testament to the power of collective action and community engagement. By partnering with more than 20,000 community members and stakeholders, we are enriching the green cover across Rayagada and Kalahandi districts, while also advancing our commitment to a climate-resilient future. Vedanta Aluminium remains deeply committed to promoting environmental stewardship to uplift communities and protect our planet for generations to come.”

Through its mega plantation drive, Vedanta Aluminium has set an example of proactive and inclusive environmental action, reinforcing its position as an industry leader striving not only for economic progress but also for the sustainable wellbeing of the communities it serves.
