19th August 2025

Jharsuguda, Odisha, July 19, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, successfully conducted a Malaria, Dengue and Diarrhoea Awareness Campaign across its operational areas, reinforcing its commitment to the health and well-being of its communities. The week-long initiative spanned across 28 villages, 2 special schools, and 1 old age home, directly impacting over 3,000 individuals through interactive sessions and hands-on demonstrations.

The campaign focused on raising awareness about mosquito-borne diseases like malaria and dengue, as well as hygiene-related illnesses such as diarrhoea. Community members were educated on disease transmission, early symptoms, and preventive measures, including mosquito control and eliminating stagnant water. Demonstrations on proper handwashing and the importance of sanitation, were conducted across all locations. Sessions were delivered in local languages and tailored for different age groups, with leaflets distributed to reinforce key messages.

Sharing his views, Mr. Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “At Vedanta Aluminium, our approach to community development is rooted in long-term impact and inclusivity. Good health and hygiene are essential building blocks for thriving communities, and through such awareness campaigns, we aim to empower individuals with knowledge that can prevent illness and improve quality of life.”

Mr. Jayanarayan Pujari, MHU doctor, who led the campaign, said,
“The sessions addressed critical knowledge gaps by presenting health practices in an accessible and relatable manner. Many participants were unaware of how seemingly small practices, like proper handwashing or keeping water containers covered, can significantly reduce health risks. It was encouraging to witness both children and adults actively engaging in the discussions and expressing their commitment to adopting healthier habits.”

The campaign strengthened community awareness and encouraged responsible health practices at the grassroots level. Feedback reflected not only increased understanding of disease prevention but also a clear intent to adopt healthier habits, contributing to improved public health outcomes. This initiative is part of Vedanta Aluminium’s broader community development efforts, where health, education, livelihood, and social empowerment programs come together to create lasting positive impact. Through such interventions, the company reaffirms its commitment to nurturing communities.
